You should expect two different eventualities regarding teeth when you age. Your teeth can either fall off one at a time, or they could develop cracks, chips or worn-out enamel. The solution to lost teeth is easy because all you have to do is find a suitable replacement. But, it's a different story if the teeth are still there. Can something be done for those cracked and chipped teeth? Yes, you can do something about it. The person to approach is the cosmetic dentist. The recommendation of cosmetic dentists is to apply composite or porcelain veneers to produce teeth. The dentist will place tooth-colored material over the teeth, producing more even-looking teeth like never before. What determines the type of veneer to be used is the state of the teeth that need repairs. If you only have minor cracks or chips on your teeth, the dentist will decide to use composite veneers. This procedure is more commonly known as bonding of teeth. The procedure is usually done very quickly and is actually made while you wait. On the other hand, if your teeth are greatly discolored, chipped, cracked or uneven, the cosmetic dentist will decide for porcelain veneers instead. You'll be needing more than one visit for this kind of veneer, because they can take several days to make. This whole process needs some serious thinking before you go ahead with it. These veneers are glued onto the surface of your normal teeth, so you can't really reverse the process once it's done. A dentist who cares will not recommend this procedure to you if you only have minor problems with the state of your teeth. You can choose zoom whitening instead. Just like any procedure, it is important, therefore, that you sit back and weigh your options before agreeing to porcelain veneers. When you go through the thought process seriously and properly, you will definitely not have regrets with your choice later on.
